With the option to camp two days at Mohawk Falls, consider making this a weekend
destination for you and your friends and family. This region is home to
many hidden gems. Here are a few favorites:
Hike Monadnock Mountain, located just across the river in Lemington,
VT. From Colebrook, travel west on Bridge Street, then north on VT Route 102, taking your
first left at the gravel pit. This 2,080-ft ascent is approximately 2.25
miles to the summit. Climb the fire tower and see a 360-degree view of
the North Country. This is a dog friendly hike.
Have a little lead left in those legs? You can't miss out on the flowing
single-track located 20 minutes away at
Circuits Frontieres in East Hereford, Quebec. A day pass ($10 Canadian
funds) may be purchased online at
circuitsfrontieres.com. Don't forget your passport - this is an experience you won't want to
miss. This is also a dog-friendly trail system. You'll just need rabies
vaccination papers to cross the border.
Circuits Frontieres trails network is part of a natural conservancy land situated in a very scenic, quiet and remote part of Quebec just at the border of Quebec, New-Hampshire and Vermont.
The trails are purposely build for mountain biking with flow, fun and adventure in mind. It has a real backcountry feel to it. The trails are long, with few intersections and covers great distances. Ride hard or peacefully without taking out your map every minute. We have something for everyone from easy and smooth beginner trails to epic all mountain journey on fast, flowy and challenging trails.
Before hitting the road back to home from Canada, consider taking a 10-minute
detour to April's Maple (
aprilsmaple.com) for lunch and all things maple. Muddy shorts, no worries. April is a former
triathlete who loves outdoor adventure, and she will gladly welcome you
to her sugarhouse to refuel.
